    Job Title: Structures Engineer

    About the Job:

    National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Structures Engineer to join our Asset Management division within Operations.

    This role involves managing structures by identifying asset needs and producing/reviewing risk management plans.

    The Structures Engineer will also be responsible for project management, including budgeting and supply chain management, to achieve goals in line with DMRB standards.

    The role may include developing treatment options, undertaking preliminary design work, or conducting structural reviews and assessment works for structures while ensuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards.

    This position can be based in one of our offices located in Manchester, Darlington, Leeds, Penrith, Preston, Wakefield, or Warrington.

    A full driving licence with no more than 3 points is required for this role.

    • Identify and support the delivery of survey works for structure assessments and improvements.
    • Monitor the delivery of assessment work and liaise with technical partners.
    • Develop early solutions for improvements and renewals, considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
    • Conduct structural reviews in accordance with CS 451 and structural assessments in accordance with DMRB standards.
    • Assist in developing the region's asset-led forward programme and initial scheme development.

    About You:

    • Degree or HND in a relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent and working towards professional membership.
    • Experience in structures studies, renewals work design, or structural assessment, with knowledge of allocated budgets.
    • Good stakeholder management and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
    • Knowledge of National Highways standards (DMRB, MCHW, and Eurocodes) and their application on the highways network.
    • Knowledge of CDM 2015.
