Overview of role:
Location:
Bradford- This is an ideal role for and experienced technologist to further their career development in a busy Concept Team.
- You will be responsible for the development of new product concepts from initial brief to customer sign off,
- You will work within a small concept team and work collaboratively in day to day administrative tasks including the coordination and input of a market audit database and maintenance of internal trackers. You will be jointly responsible for maintaining the high cleaning standards of the test bakery and management and maintenance of the test bakery ingredients store.
- You will be confident in managing your own projects, communicating project updates and working collaboratively with cross functional teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Key member of the Process Team ensuring that concepts are realised in production.
- To advise the concept team with ingredient and packaging information for product briefs.
- To develop capability assessments of key pieces of equipment.
- To train the concept team in processing equipment capability.
- To coordinate and conduct feasibility trials.
- To input in the development of raw material.
- Manage critical path to launch to ensure that project is delivered to agreed timescales.
- Ensure project files are kept up to date with relevant information.
- To plan and schedule factory trials. Complete post trial evaluation, including trial report writing and using statistical data to establish process and product parameters.
- Engage with customer on progress of product launch, trials reviews, production samples etc.
- To conduct training with all operator's line set up, processing parameters and product quality parameters.
- To coordinate nutritional and shelf life testing in line with customer requirements.
- To assist in the progression of the artwork process.
- To communicate and coordinate projects with relevant internal departments and capital project engineer.
- To optimise production processes to achieve or exceed costing target.
- To complete internal recipes, process specifications & quality attribute sheets and coordinate their integration into the QMS.
- Facilitate the first full production run.
- Provide support for factory on 2nd & 3rd production runs to ensure smooth product transition into factory and to iron out any issues.
- To coordinate post launch review and action improvements that could be made in the development process.
The Right Person:
- Degree in Food Science / Technology (not a requirement but preferred)
- 1 or more years experience in the food industry in a similar process / NPD role preferred
- Bakery background preferred but not essential
- Full UK driving license
Advantageous:
- Understanding of baking process
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH Level 2) IOSH or equivalent
- Ability to demonstrate basic engineering competencies/mechanical empathy
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
- Computer Literate (understand and interact with HMI screens)
