Main duties of the job:

Assist the maintenance crafts persons in work that includes activities, which are complex and/or non-routine. Undertakes unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not justify the attention of a craftsperson. Assists in minor improvement and capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures

  • To assist the Maintenance Craftsperson (in all disciplines) in such duties as instructed by the supervisor, working under the supervision of the Maintenance Craftsperson.
  • Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not justify the attention of a craftsperson, including, where appropriate the attached "List of Tasks".
  • Assist higher skilled grades on new work and repairs as required.
  • Where necessary, learn minor work of assistants in other trades.
  • Use relevant tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop safety practices.
  • To learn new techniques, with training as necessary, to attend training courses as may be required.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and computer records as required.
  • Use computerised reporting technology if required.
  • Work in other parts of the Trust as required.
Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade.
