The Tuberculosis team within the Integrated Local Services directorate are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and customer service skills.

This is a brand new role and an exciting opportunity to work with a great team and in a supportive acute and community environment.

The post holder will work across sites; Beckett House at St Thomas' Hospital as well as Community sites around Lambeth and Southwark.


The role will require coordinating with teams and supporting the ASM to ensure service provision and business continuity is provided at all times.

Use of the Oracle smart order would be a desirable criteria.


The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of community services or knowledge of IT systems and processes within the Trust.

We strongly advise arranging an informal visit before applying.


To work autonomously in the information drop-in centre conducting holistic assessment/triage of patients and significant others to identify their information and support needs.

Provide specialist advice and/or information from appropriate and up to date resources.


Keep up to date and develop links with supportive services in the local community to improve access to information and support services for diverse service users.


Respond to a wide variety of queries, often dealing with complex and sensitive issues, in a courteous and efficient manner.

Signposting to other agencies and teams whilst escalating to senior staff as necessary.

Ensuring all literature is up to date and maintaining stock levels of supplies.

Ordering and stock taking of clinical supplies.


Dimbleby Cancer Care is an information and support service based at Guy's Cancer, London and at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.

It provides cancer information, psychological support, benefits advice and complementary therapies to patients and carers. The service operates Monday to Friday.


The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the cancer support worker role and its purpose within the service; they are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake additional or alternative administrative and managerial duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level of the post, to support the smooth running of the department.

Provide a point of contact for patients and service users throughout their treatment

Respond to wide variety of queries, often dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a sensitive manner

Support people to access appropriate information and support, by sign posting to a range of support services and take an approach which helps people to self-manage where appropriate

Act as an advocate to resolve issues that may be perceived as barriers to care

Carry out administrative duties required by the role, such as ordering booklets and literature and producing documentation

Demonstrate an awareness of the limits of own practice and knowledge and when to seek appropriate support/advice
