My client is looking for an experienced journalist to lead the first phase of an exciting county-based business journalism venture.


My publishing organisation recently made an amazing acquisition and is looking for an Editor to continue the site's strong editorial and commercial performance and launch two new sites in the counties of Hampshire and Surrey.


We are looking for a self-starter who shares our vision of serving local business communities with quality content and creating mutually advantageous connections for our advertisers.


We are looking for a people person who can build a strong network of contacts in each county and deliver unique stories each day.

They should be an excellent writer who has experience writing for business or trade publications.

Strong online editing skills would be an advantage as would an understanding of SEO principles and social media marketing.

You should be comfortable presenting to an audience at events and chairing roundtables.


The successful applicant will be supported on a daily basis by the wider editorial team and will work closely with our sales and marketing teams to spot commercial opportunities.


My client is a fast-growing media and events company with ambitions to be the UK's leading regional B2B publisher and plans to grow organically and through acquisition in 2023 and beyond.

The position is remote with occasional travel to their office in Surrey.


Responsibilities:


  • Creating and implementing an effective content strategy
  • Writing and delivering high quality content from concept to production
  • Content planning for multiple platforms to create content that will build consumer engagement that endures
  • Growing niche digital audiences both on sites/app and on social platforms
  • Thinking about user experience and usability, accessibility, writing for the web and meeting user needs with content
  • Working closely with commercial teams to build revenue focused features and creative solutions for brands and advertisers
  • Be part of, and respond to, branded content pitches both clientfacing and remotely
  • Growing first party database
  • Using trends and datadriven insights to drive audience engagement and growth
  • Building on your established network of contributors and freelancers and managing a contributor budget tightly

Person Specification:


Education & Training:

Writing experience in Business or Trade publications - minimum 1 year (Essential)

Journalism degree (Desirable)


Knowledge & Skills:

Content Marketing (Essential)

Social media platforms (Essential)

Strong analytical skills (Essential)

Budget management (Essential)

Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal (Essential)

The role is based remotely. Monday to Friday.
