Description

We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic and energetic support worker to join a 6 bed residential care service for people with Learning Disabilities in Wood Green, North London.


We provide support and assist our residents to achieve their goals and aspirations, reach their full potential and meet their physical, social and emotional needs, whilst taking their wishes and preferences into account and adhering to all relevant legislation and standards defined by the Care Quality Commission and other regulatory bodies.


Description of duties and responsibilities:
- to support residents with all aspects of personal care, daily living and independent living skills as well as with implementing positive behaviour support plans
- to promote the rights, choices, dignity, independence and privacy of the residents and enable them to be as involved and independent as possible
- to create a supportive homely atmosphere whilst ensuring high standards and levels of cleanliness, tidiness and order are maintained
- to ensure that appropriate standards and measures for health and safety, infection control, equality & diversity and safeguarding are maintained and adhered by
- to maintain and work with an up to date knowledge of each individual's
risk assessments, preferred method of communication and
care plan guidelines
- to attend for work reliably and punctually
- to ensure secure storage and administration of all medicines
- to remain vigilant and do everything possible to protect people who use the service, and others from abuse of any nature

N.B. Please note this list is not exhaustive; a full job description will be provided at interview stage.


Applicants should have the folowing:

  • Care Certificate/NVQ in Health and Social Care
- at least one year of experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, complex needs and dementia

  • IT skills and
- a driver's licence is desirable, as the post may require some driving

Applicants should be able flexible and work shift patterns including weekends, nights and Bank Holidays


The successful applicant will be required to provide an enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references and have the right to work in the UK.

£12.30 per hour
