Job description:


About the team


We are looking to appoint an Associate Director to lead our work regulating the exam boards in their delivery of general qualifications, including GCSEs, AS and A levels.

This role sits within our General Qualifications Directorate.

You will be a member of Ofqual's wider leadership group, working with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver our regulatory priorities.


What will the post holder be doing?


You will be responsible for leading the implementation of an annual regulatory strategy for GCSE, AS and A levels, monitoring qualification delivery to make sure that risks are appropriately identified and managed and ensuring that exam boards comply with our rules.


You will also lead Ofqual's response when things go wrong, managing multi-disciplinary teams to make often high-profile and high-impact decisions on issues affecting general qualification delivery and assessment standards and engaging effectively with exam boards and the Department for Education.


In addition, you will be responsible for using Ofqual's regulatory tools effectively to promote exam board compliance, contribute to Ofqual's understanding of factors impacting qualification delivery, and inform our strategic response through policy decisions and regulatory action.


This role requires a strong understanding of qualifications standards and delivery, knowledge and understanding of the education sector and regulation as well as the ability to work flexibly and the leadership skills to inspire, motivate and develop staff.


You will also need to have proven ability to work and make decisions in a pressurised environment, demonstrate sound analytical skills, and be an excellent communicator.
