We are looking for an experienced administrator to assist our clerk deliver local services, environmental improvements and community projects in Send.
_Please note, the salary range below is pro rata_

- Send Parish Council is looking for an Administrative Assistant to work alongside the Parish Clerk in the village centre Parish Office. The post is for 16 hours a week to be mutually arranged with the current clerk. JOB PURPOSE
- To provide administrative assistance to the clerk in his/her duties in the smooth running of the Parish Council and in the delivery of Council services. ORGANISATION RELATIONSHIP
- Directly responsible to the Parish Clerk. PRINCIPAL DUTIES- To assist the clerk with administrative duties, which could include the below:
- To input the Councils payment list into the bank for payment.
- To maintain computer records of burials in the Council's cemetery.
- To update the computer cemetery mapping system.
- To maintain the record of allotment tenancies, render invoices for allotment rents due and report to the clerk on the income arising from those rents.
- To assist in the reclamation of Value Added Tax and reconciliation of the Council's bank accounts.
- To input payment and income transactions into the computer system.
- To take minutes of meetings as required by the Parish Clerk.
- To put together invoices for and on behalf of the Council
- To keep the website up to date and assist with social media
- To assist in the collation and delivery of documents for councillors prior to council and committee meetings
- To keep the administrative side of the office running in the absence of the Clerk. *QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES* *Qualifications
- Good general education, 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English (E) HND in Business Administration or a related field, or Level 3 Diploma in Business and Administration (D) Essential criteria
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good working relationships.
- Able to work in a small team or alone.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work without supervision, on own initiative and complete tasks.
- Have confidence in dealing with telephone enquiries and requests from members of the public.
- Have an organised approach to work and the ability to discern priorities amongst a range of competing demands.
- Computer literacy including a thorough working knowledge of both Word and Excel outlook and the internet.
- Website and social media skills
- Good organisational skills for tasks such as filing and scheduling.
- Methodical working approach and a high attention to detail.
- Good literacy skills.
- Selfmotivation.
- Willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours. *Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in an office environment.
- Prior local government experience.
- Previous experience of taking minutes.
- Confidence with dealing with difficult people and situations.
Job Types:
