Accounts and Payroll Administrator

Salary 21k - 25k DOE, (£ £16.02 an hour)

30-hour contract


Position Overview:

Responsibilities:


Sales and Purchase Ledger:

  • Oversee the accurate maintenance and reconciliation of the sales and purchase ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims.
  • Monitor and review outstanding balances, ensuring prompt followup on overdue payments, and resolving any billing discrepancies.
  • Complete payments run as and when required.

Credit Control:

  • Monitor customer credit limits and review credit terms to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Proactively manage outstanding debts, including initiating collection efforts, negotiating payment plans, and escalating collection activities when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to assess and mitigate credit risks associated with new and existing customers.
  • Manage the operation of various credit facilities to enhance positive cashflow.

Payroll:

  • Complete weekly and monthly payroll runs inclusive of subcontractors and calculating overtime accurately.
  • Ensure that payments are made to HMRC in a timely manner inclusive of CIS payments
  • Ensuring time is allocated to the correct projects so the project accurately represent a true profit/loss.
  • Setting up new members of staff

Requirements:


  • Qualification in Payroll or Accounting is highly desirable but not essential. (AAT, CIPD)
  • Proven experience within the accounting or finance department.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, and other commonly used software packages).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
