A day in the life of an Skills Practitionerand no 2 days are the same

  • As a skills practitioner the most important part of your role will be to build a meaningful and trustworthy relationship with the young person within the home that will encourage their engagement within their learning._


You will be required to be creative in your planning and implementation to make learning practical and enjoyable for the young person to improve their engagement.


You will be responsible for gaining the young person's views on their interests and learning to develop their strengths and support them to become skilled in their areas of interest.

You will be responsible for transporting the young person during their day of learning.

You may at times be required to support the young person to appointments within their day of learning.


You will plan the daily learning of the young person to ensure their learning is appropriate to their current needs and academic ability.


You will evaluate your day, the positives and negatives and making informed decisions of what you will do differently to make learning a success.


You will compile the evidence of all the work the young person has completed to send to the Lead Co-ordinator to send for verification.


You will evidence the young persons journey within their learning and to deliver this to external professionals at various meetings.

You will evidence the outcomes and goals of the young person within their care plan.


You will be responsible for the service budget and evidencing the spending of this and submitting the budget to finance in line with company timescales.


You will be responsible for resource management and ensuring resources are kept to a good standard and replenished when required.


You will also:
- provide support to our children and young people in accordance with policies and procedures and participate in a mindful teamwork approach
- ensure positive support to children and young people when they are concerned or distressed
- attend planning and review meetings where appropriate
- ensure relevant reports are kept in addition to appropriate record keeping information collection and exchange
- implement de-escalation and physical intervention strategies as necessary and appropriate in line with mandatory training

  • Promote young peoples' participation, to ensuring young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home
- comply with the code of conduct
- be aware of safeguarding and child protection issues
- understand the reporting process of child protection within the home
- understand the principals of safeguarding young people, staff and self
- have a good understanding of the emergency call out procedures of the house


Pay:
£24,960.00-£27,165.00 per year
