GRG Waste UK is a waste to resource management company. The parent company, Guernsey Recycling Group, is headquartered in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. GRG is a growing business and currently owns 9 companies employing over 200 staff in Guernsey, Jersey, UK and the Cayman Islands. In the UK, GRG has become a market leader for hazardous and liquid waste and is driven by the principles of sustainability; over 80% of waste received is either recycled or recovered. GRG Waste UK is made up of 4 companies, Chloros Environmental Limited, Greenway Environmental Limited, BKP Group and Novum Waste Recycling that work in unison to offer a wide range of services.
Main responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Ensure Group Facilities achieve "Excellence in Safety Culture"
- Ensure that all operations are completed in accordance with current legislation and internal requirements for preacceptance, acceptance and onward shipping of wastes.
- Manage and maintain the Group health, safety, quality & environmental responsibilities.
- Drive good working practices and create and maintain workable and concise procedures which improve efficiency.
- Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies. Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
- Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
- Ensure regular health & safety audits are carried out and actions and improvements are implemented.
- Conduct environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
- Attend and partake in customer duty of care audits, where required.
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
- Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training.
- Ensure documentation of compliance activities are properly maintained, Including complaints received or investigation outcomes.
- Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues and identify areas which require followup or investigation.
- Evaluate testing procedures to meet the specifications of H&S and environmental monitoring programs
- Verify that software technology is in place to adequately provide oversight and monitoring in all required areas.
- Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities.
- Assess future business ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the Company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
- Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline. NEBOSH General Certificate
Desired:
NEBOSH Diploma. ILM Management Training Level 5
EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
Previous experience of managing health, safety quality and environmental compliance. Previous experience of managing a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desired:
Previous experience of facilities management
SKILLS:
Essential:
Comfortable and confident in saying "no" when necessary, result-oriented and able to take the lead in setting the tone for corporate integrity.
