What you'll be doing:


  • Calibrating and repairing a wide range of equipment against set procedures and technical specifications
  • Keeping accurate records of work activities including test results and nonconformances
  • Using modern software systems including support to development of automation procedures
  • Attaining signatory status and taking part in UKAS / ISO 17025 accreditation audits and activities

Your skills and experiences:


  • Degree / HNC / HND in STEM related discipline
  • Comprehensive understanding of measurement systems and principles
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 quality systems and measurement uncertainties

The Team:


The Instrument calibration service (ICS) team calibrates, maintains, and develops around 50,000 pieces of equipment per year in support of Submarine build programmes.

This ranges from traditional analogue TMDE through to state-of-the-art digital measurement systems.

In support of these activities our metrologists and engineers are given many development and progression opportunities to develop and maintain the skills and knowledge required.

The calibration laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025 by UKAS necessitating a traceable approach to all aspects of calibrations undertaken.
