Role Summary
Main Responsibilities
- To undertake early site feasibility assessments of potential development opportunities from a planning perspective by utilising online resources and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in collaboration with the GIS Specialist.
- To prepare detailed planning appraisals to establish renewable development potential including site visits, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis and interpretation and consideration of material considerations.
- To liaise with team members and wider professionals involved in the planning process, such as external consultants and local planning authorities.
- To assist in coordinating public and stakeholder involvement, including early engagement with communities and Councillors and attending community engagement events.
- To assist in addressing issues as they arise on projects throughout the planning process.
- To liaise with the Development Design Manager throughout the development process to ensure the various plans and designs are updated and correct.
- To systematically maintain the filing of planning documents and related materials.
- To liaise with the relevant Project Manager and ensure that project management systems are kept up to date.
General:
- To stay informed of new planning legislation, guidance and best practice where appropriate.
- Attending relevant planning seminars and training events for continued professional development.
- To seek business opportunities and raise profile of Ethical Power Development.
- To undertake any other necessary duties related to the business.
- To maintain a continued focus on process improvements.
Person Specification
Skills / Qualifications:
Essential
- A Bachelors degree in Town Planning, Geography, or an MSc in Town Planning (or very closely related degree) with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above.
- Membership (or eligibility) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Town Planning.
- Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Excellent research and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally & in writing.
- Ability to work on projects independently and as part of a wider team.
- Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the wider team.
- Enthusiastic and keen to be involved in new projects and learn other areas of the business.
- A commercially focussed approach and understanding of business objectives.
Desirable
- Modules in sustainability, environmental management and renewable energy.
- Experience with GIS and data analysis.
- Experience of dealing with the general public or hosting public events.
- Working towards chartership with the RTPI.

£20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
