Compliance and Sustainability Officer

Reporting to:
General Counsel


Role Overview
Lagan Specialist Contracting Group are a family-owned leading business with over 50 years' experience in the Construction Industry.

The group works across a diverse range of traditional sectors but also has a focus on innovation and new technology.

The group employs over 650 people across the UK, Ireland and Internationally. Lagan Services provides support services to the range of businesses within the group.


What you'll do

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Sustainability Planning and Implementation_ assist with the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy. Collaborate with relevant departments to integrate sustainability practices into business processes and operations.
  • Reporting and Documentation_ collect data, monitor, measure, and report on compliance and sustainability performance metrics and support regular audits and reviews of the operations, processes, and procedures to identify and address compliance issues. Provide guidance and support on compliance matters and develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement _ engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, supply chain and community partners to promote compliance and sustainability principles and initiatives. Build relationships to support compliance and sustainability goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance_ stay up to date with changes in relevant laws, regulations and emerging trends related to compliance and sustainability, monitor regulatory developments, advise key stakeholders, and communicate potential impacts.
  • Continuous Improvement _ identify areas for improvement in compliance and sustainability programs and processes and implement measures to enhance their effectiveness.
  • Educate employees_ on compliance regulations and the impact of noncompliance on the business

What you'll bring:


  • Essential Requirements:_
  • Minimum two years' experience working in an organisational environment in a regulatory, business improvement or compliance role
  • IT skills such as using document management systems, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to collect and collate information and present it in a clear and relevant manner
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Degree or other equivalent qualification in one or more of the following areas: Sustainability, Environmental Management, Business Administration/ Governance, Law, Construction related qualification
  • It would be useful but not necessary for you to have any of the following:_
  • Experience working in regulatory matters; and/or
  • Experience in a commercial environment e.g., some form of business environment; and/or
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of ISO Standards and requirements
  • Membership of IEMA
