I am currently recruiting for a Service Manager to work in the Asset Strategy and Estate Management team at a leading public sector organisation based in Sheffield.

You will be responsible for the overall delivery of the service and for the development and implementation of decisions, strategies, policies and plans that set the direction and standards for the future development of the service


Duties will include:


  • Managing a team of senior estates surveyors
  • Be responsible for service delivery, performance, service improvement, professional standards, budgets and people management
  • To deputise for the Head of Service on request and cover for other Service Managers as required
  • To maintain an overview and determine the broad direction of the future service and assess its likely impact
  • Lead and manage the Asset Strategy and Estate Management Team providing advice on estate management matters, supporting the delivery of service and portfolio targets and efficient delivery of services
  • Act as the lead advisor on matters of strategic and operational asset management.
  • Be accountable for delivery of the Service functions through the development and delivery of service delivery plans, team work programme, key performance indicators, targets and outcomes
  • Monitor external strategic, legal and political developments and advise on appropriate changes to policies, including drafting and designing detailed policies and plans for approval

To be successful in this role you will have the below skills and experience:

  • Have experience of writing policy and strategic documents
  • Proven professional expertise and experience of leading,managing, and motivating multidisciplinary professional and technical teams
  • Significant experience of collaborative working, partnership development, and contract negotiation within a complex organisation
  • Experience of developing innovative delivery models in estate management or asset strategy
  • Experience of working at a senior management level in a large and complex organisation and evidence of being a visible leader
  • Experience of leading and managing teams, developing teams, promoting excellent performance
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of performance and risk supported by the ability to analyse, interpret and respond to performance and risk trends
  • Experience of developing, proposing and implementing effective operational plans and innovation
  • Experience of budget resource management and strategy formulation experience to deliver successful service objectives
  • Experience of managing and resolving complex problems with the best possible outcomes
  • Proven achievements in delivering operational services in
- including in the areas of leadership, performance management, continual improvement and managing change while effectively motivating, empowering effective teams


The role will be hybrid working and involve a couple of days in the office/site visits and the rest from home.
