We provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders and clients, with daily telephone and face to face contact. In addition, we are responsible for all financial transactions as a team.


We attend graveside and run chapel services as part of our role, as well as returning Cremated remains to families and leading scatterings within our Gardens of Remembrance.

This is an office-based role with much variation in day-to-day tasks, with a rota in place where you will be required to work one Saturday and Thursday evening a month.


About the role
Main duties will include Reception, dealing with customers face to face, and handling a broad range of customer enquiries. In addition, you will operate a telephone service to assist customers with various enquiries.


You will be responsible for assisting with bookings, all administration for burials and cremations and finance within the team, plus assisting with the purchase of memorial plaques, trees, benches, and the book of remembrance.

All requests need to be dealt with in a sensitive manner.


You will also be involved in family history and general research for grave locations, and you will be involved in the transfer of grave ownership.


An important part of the role will be to attend Chapel and Graveside when required and meet with the Funeral Director, Family member or minister / celebrant where appropriate.

About you


We are looking for a strong administrator, who can multitask and accurately record information in an environment that operates deadlines and has regular interruptions.

You must have a background in administration, ideally with some finance / account's knowledge.

In addition to this, we require strong communication / customer service skills. You will need to have a patient, professional manner and be able to deal with very sensitive issues. Customer Service skills dealing with similar sensitive issues would be beneficial. Strong IT skills are also required with the ability to adapt to specific software used by Bereavement Service.

You must be smart and presentable, with the willingness to always wear appropriate clothing / RBC Uniform.

You must be willing to work some Saturdays on a rota basis and may be required to work on selected bank holidays.
