Northern Employment Services are looking to recruit an experienced Buyer in the Manchester area on a straight permanent basis, working with one of our fantastic ever growing clients.


Hours of work for a Buyer:
Monday to Friday - 8am to 4pm or alternatively 9am to 5pm


Salary for a Buyer:

£31,000 to £38,000 annual, depending on experience


Duties & Responsibilities of a Buyer:

  • Actively mentoring of graduate &/or apprentice members of the Procurement & Contracts team
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensuring spending is managed appropriately
  • Interacting with high profile stakeholders and suppliers
  • Ongoing management of subcategories and resources, including reviews and development
  • Sourcing process with the procurement of goods, services and work on all categories.
  • Preparing "request for proposals" and "request for quotations". Highlighting inconsistencies and differences, presenting such for evaluation.
  • Carrying out supplier evaluations and conducting negotiations for procurement exercises.
  • Preparing orders under procurement governance.
  • Support Procurement & Contracts Management
  • Working closely with other key function in the company, keeping them aware of and seek views/changes

Personal attributes for the Buyer to bring:

  • The ability to identify and escalate issues / non compliance appropriately
  • Lead external commercial negotiations of projects and resolve disputes
  • Overcome challenges with stakeholder engagement is critical in order to ensure buyin to projects for the benefit of the overall group

Experience or knowledge required from a Buyer:

  • Experience of the PCR's &/or UCR's
  • Basic knowledge of law and experience of contract formation / administration / management
  • Experience of tender processes and relevant "Find A Tender" regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
  • Experience of cost and price analysis with ability to evaluate tender processes
  • Demonstrate working with a wide range of stakeholders & executing relationships successfully
  • Office proficient & MCIPS or interest in studying towards
