Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a new organisation formed following the merger of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Greenwich in October 2013.

We take great pride in our place at the heart of the local communities we serve.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was established in October 2013, following the integration of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich.

The Trust employs more than 6,000 staff on both the hospital and community sites, which makes us one of the biggest employers in South East London.

TRAUMA AND ORTHOPAEDIC DIRECTORATE

The Department provides an extensive Orthopaedic and Trauma service for the reception, assessment, examination and treatment of people with abnormalities of the musculo skeletal system or who have sustained a recent injury.

The Department offers good training for junior medical staff in Orthopaedic Surgery with a broad range of treatment and the management of Trauma and Elective patients.

There is a link with the King's College UMDS, which provides four Specialty Trainee Registrars.

There are daily fracture clinics and typically each consultant team has 2 days trauma responsibilities. Day one will be the on call with a fracture clinic and ward round for admitted trauma patients. Day two is allocated in theatres for trauma surgery. The consultant teams have daily operating lists and elective outpatients' clinics.
