Description

Due to retirement, we are seeking an ambitious, experienced senior leader who builds trusted relationships at all levels and will drive continuous improvement to support delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives.

As one of two Deputy Chief Finance Officers, you will be proactive and innovative with excellent communication skills and be highly credible when deputising for the Chief Finance Officer.

We are looking for a leader with a strong record of developing finance teams and financial ownership within organisations.

As a relatively small Trust taking a Lead Provider role at our One Herefordshire Place, this role is varied, challenging and above all rewarding with significant exposure to the Executive team, the Board and System partners.

We believe this is an exciting time to join the Wye Valley team.

We are rightly proud of our Finance and Information teams, their commitment to improvement and passion for delivery of high quality support to our clinical and operational teams, putting the population we serve at the heart of what we do.

Our teams work flexibly, with a hybrid approach based on service need and individual preference. We provide a supportive environment in which to learn and develop and are working towards One NHS Finance Accreditation.

If you are a senior finance professional seeking a new challenge who shares our passion for supporting delivery of high quality clinical services and effective use of resources this could be the role for you.

Through strong visible leadership, communication and influencing skills the Deputy Chief Finance Officer will ensure effective finance business partnering, developing trusted relationships with the team and key stakeholders whilst promoting sound financial governance.

Providing leadership and strategic vision to the financial management functions, you will share our passion for supporting clinical teams to deliver excellent patient care as well as effective use of resources.

You will ensure that key business and financial systems and processes are efficient, effective and user focused whilst maintaining sound financial governance.

The role includes specific responsibility to:

  • Support and influence strategic and operational decisions
  • Interpret, explain and drive financial performance
  • Advise on planning assumptions, external and internal context, benchmarking and commercial opportunities
  • Analyse, advise on and mitigate financial risk in the organisation
  • Strive to continuously improve financial processes and deliver excellence
  • Ensure the continued professional development of finance staff

Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT and the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.

Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

We are a progressive and forward looking trust with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways through close collaborative working with our partners to deliver the quality of care we'd want for our family and friends.

More than 3,000 people work for the Trust - they tell us it's a great place to work, blending the busyness of a DGH with the benefits of working in a beautiful rural and unspoilt county like Herefordshire.

We can offer a great work-life balance and have a fine tradition of working with staff to help them achieve their full potential.

Russell Hardy, Trust Chairman:
"The strength of the Trust is its amazing staff; a great place to work, a great place to develop your career and a great place to reach your potential."

Our values - Care, Accountability, Respect and Excellence - are at the heart of all we do. We believe in providing the right care in the right place at the right time all the time.

You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.

For further details, or if you would like to have a confidential discussion about this opportunity, please contact Katie Osmond, Chief Finance Officer, or her Executive Assistant, Wendy Twigg.
