Description

We are seeking to recruit aBand 4 Assistant Practitionerto join the team within the Section 136 Suite in Hellesdon hospital.

The Section 136 Suite is a Place of Safety for those under Section 136 of The Mental Health Act. You will work closely with the Police, Ambulance Service, Doctors and AMHP's.

You will be supported by the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment (CRHT) team and will work alongside and, on occasions, within this team.

You will be included in assessments and suitability for home treatment or access to CRHT where needed.

You will provide 1:1 care to service users. You will liaise with relevant mental health professionals throughout the patient journey. You will be required to document within the electronic patient record.

You may be required to carry out lone working, however, the wider team would be able to support where required.

You would be required to support in therapeutic engagement, supporting service users with their basic care needs and liaising with families and carers as appropriate.


You will be required to work shifts in the numbers alongside our Clinical Support Workers and Registered Nurses with the crisis team at times when the suite is not occupied.

You will work a combination of long days / night shifts including unsociable hours i.e. some weekends and bank holidays.

It is a fast-paced working environment and no day looks the same.

You will also be involved in supporting service users with their basic healthcare needs and carrying out therapeutic observations to support service users.


We have a strong focus on providing assessment and treatment to enable service users to continue their recovery in the community with intensive support in the community.

The CRHT is the 'front-door' to acute services, they provide triage, assessment, intensive support and admission avoidance hand in hand with support of families and 3rdparty providers.

The staffing team also works with service users already in hospital to ensure that they can be supported at home at the earliest opportunity to support their recovery

A full induction will be provided to the successful applicant. You will also be allocated to a Buddy to support your induction period.

We have a keen focus on exploring development opportunities available to you.

The successful applicant will be considered to enrol in the Medication Competency / Administration Course facilitated by The University of Suffolk.

Please note that Band 4 Assistant Practitioners require:
A Care certificate or completed within first 12 weeks of start date, or relevant equivalent qualification.


AND


Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care / Mental Health at Level 5 or Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care / Mental Health Level 5.
