Contract Type - Full time - 35 hours per week, Open Ended (Permanent)


Are you an experienced Marketing professional looking for a fresh challenge? This is a fantastic to opportunity to join Accommodation, Catering and Events department at what is an exciting time for the University department.


The University of Edinburgh, through its Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) department, manages a large portfolio of hotels, venues, student and seasonal accommodation, university catering outlets and two nurseries.


You will be responsible for:

  • To provide the most effective, high quality marketing service for ACE, the job holder, in conjunction with Head of Branding, Marketing and Communication, will develop marketing and communications plans for the key areas within ACE.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the execution of tasks set out in the marketing and communications plans to ensure stringent timescales are met.
  • Manage third parties to deliver on ACE's marketing and communications plans. This will include booking advertising space, organising public relations and sponsorship activities.
  • Responsible for communicating to and with a broad range of people at various levels, internal and external to the University, therefore developing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders is imperative to promote the student and commercial university brands.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to degree/equivalent standard or relevant experience of marketing
  • Experience in the production of both online and printed marketing materials
  • Ability to think and analyse independently, communicate clearly and confidently, reconcile conflicting views and produce work of a consistently high standard across all media
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • High standards of written and oral presentation, including good copy writing and proof reading skills
  • Strong and assertive communication skills
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to manage relationships with internal clients and external agencies and suppliers
  • Ability to interact and manage relationships with colleagues across the departments

About the team


Accommodation, Catering and Events (formerly Accommodation Services) provides catered and self-catered residential accommodation for over 10,000 students, including community and welfare support through its Residence Life service.

We also operate 17 cafes and a range of other catering products to students and staff across the University estate.

Under our commercial brand, Edinburgh First, we deliver hotel accommodation options to around 200,000 guests each year plus an extensive selection of conference, catering and event services to over 2,000 events.
