Caterer/Kitchen Supervisor (Hospitality and Catering) - HMP/YOI Standford Hill

Sheerness:


This unique Band 4 Catering position, offers an exciting opportunity to join our small customer focused team, running the visits centre café and our newly refurbished tearoom called "The Blitz".

You will be required to work across both facilities which are located on the same site and within walking distance of each other.


This position would suit an energetic person who is flexible and engaging with a can-do approach and an attention to detail with the ability to use their own initiative.

The position requires someone that will strive for customer excellence and work well as part of a team. You must have a passion for Health and wellbeing and provide a friendly face for our customers. The position will be to provide high quality food and beverages to prisoners, staff, and families.


Your role would be to run the kitchen and front of house, helping to prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages from the menu as well as retailing other pre-packaged items.

You will be responsible for the training of the prisoner team and delivering relevant qualifications in catering. As well as assisting with stock control and handling cash and card services for payment. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient facility across both sites.

Hours and salary
Band 4 salary minimum inclusive of 20% unsocial hours allowance - £36,565

Band 4 salary maximum inclusive of 20% unsocial hours allowance - £36,565


Qualifications and experience

  • Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering or equivalent
  • Food hygiene certificate at Level
  • Food hygiene certificate Level 3 (intermediate level)
  • Working towards a relevant vocational qualification at Level 3 or already hold formal qualifications in catering e.g. City and Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3

In addition, you must be:
- familiar with all current health, safety and hygiene related regulations for working in a kitchen
- able to demonstrate competency within an industrial kitchen environment.

  • Able to demonstrate team leadership experience
  • Able to speak with confidence in English
Please note refresher training in food safety (HACCP) should be completed at three year intervals.

Additional Information:


Successful applicants need to be 18 at the point they take up post as an exception under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Access to Apprenticeship qualifications are now available to Catering staff as part of their personal development


Working Arrangements & Further Information:

Standard working hours for this post are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid.


If you are a current NPS employee, this vacancy may be available on a Loan basis for up to 2 years.
