Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of the UK's leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers.

The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw materialto the finished product in one location.

Operating from a ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one supplierswithin the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.


Main Purpose of the Role


Reporting to the NDT Manager, you will be responsible for the generation of inspection certifications and CMM measurements while completing aspects of dimensional and visual inspection and testing of forgings, forged stock and forged blades.


There is the development opportunity to become a CMM inspector and the possibility of becoming a programmer in a company-wide metrology department, closely supporting production.


Key Accountabilities

  • Generation of Inspection certification.
  • Handson dimensional Inspection.
  • Handson CMM measurement.
  • Handson Jig manufacture and maintenance.
  • Handson visual inspection.
  • Packing of goods for despatch.
  • Marking of products prior to despatch.
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI).
Any other duties as may reasonably be required.


Skills and Experience

Essential:


  • Experience in a hot metal environment.
  • Good IT Skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationships with customers.
  • Good mechanical aptitude is required, the role involves physically making jigs and understanding their complexity.

Desirable:


  • Working knowledge of technical drawings.

Qualifications

Essential:


  • Having completed a relevant apprenticeship.

Desirable:


  • Slinging / Crane Operation qualification.
  • Fork Lift Truck Licence.
