Our Trust is located across the beautiful East Kent countryside, with easy access by road and rail.

Flexible working is available but you may be will be required to work across the 3 sites in Ashford, Canterbury and Margate, as dictated by service needs.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology & Blood Transfusion department for an 18-month period as our Laboratory Information System (LIMS) & Order Communications Support Officer.

The Kent and Medway Pathology network is one of 29 nationally which is taking shape under the direction of NHSE/I.

This transformation will ensure our network has exceptional connectivity for the next decade and ensure we respond to demand and patient needs appropriately.


You will work closely with Chief Biomedical Scientists on all 3 sites on a daily basis whilst undertaking design, testing and analysis of our new LIMS across the range of tests and platforms offered by our Haematology and Blood Transfusion services.


  • To support the Senior Team in the design, testing and analysis/interpretation of test scripts for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across Haematology and Blood Transfusion disciplines. This will cover all processes and conceived scenarios in order to ensure that the LIMS solution for the departments is robust, safe, appropriate and has been thoroughly stress tested.
  • To work with the Senior Team in Haematology and Transfusion to highlight deficiencies in the testing plans and to offer a solution where issues with testing are highlighted.
  • To support the design, coordination and delivery of the local training of the laboratory workforce with regard to the Winpath Enterprise LIMS solution in Haematology and Blood Transfusion in conjunction with the Chief Biomedical Scientists across all 3 sites.
  • To work with Chief Biomedical Scientists to design, test and analyse testing scripts for any e.g. AMS EPU, Indexor, Phoresis or relevant analyser middleware upgrades which are related to the LIMS implementation or will support the LIMS implementation.
  • To work with Chief Biomedical Scientists to support the safe, implementation of the new Sunquest ICE order communications system in Haematology and Blood Transfusion in conjunction with the overarching LIMS implementation project.
  • To work closely with our Quality Lead and Chief Biomedical Scientists to design and perform relevant and at times, extensive, quality assessments of the LIMS/Order Comms/Middleware testing
