The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy, and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won't be solved by science alone.

We are looking for an End User Compute Lead to join our team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be part of the Infrastructure Team within the Network Cloud and Workspace (NCW) space of the Digital and Technology department reporting to the Infrastructure Manager.

The NCW team manage Wellcome's Cloud & on-premise infrastructure, the identity estate, the end user compute technology and all associated network infrastructure.

What will I be doing?

As an End User Compute Lead, you will (a maximum of 6 bullet points):

  • In-directly lead the EUC engineer and an inspiring, innovative and technically advanced team, promoting a culture for inclusivity and diversity
  • Be trusted to deliver strategic, user-centric solutions by outlining the design, procurement, development, operation and maintenance of EUC technologies
  • Be trusted to deliver a technologically future-proof roadmap of the EUC strategy
  • Provide consultancy on architecture, design and implementation as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to a range of cross-functional project teams where EUC technical skillsets are crucial
  • Provide day-to-day technical expertise and engineering for EUC tools to ensure effective operations, resilience and consistency
  • Act as an SME for EUC in the case of a major incident and co-ordinate the technical response to the incident until a resolution is reached or the incident is closed.
Is this job for me?

We are looking for someone who (a maximum of 6 bullet points):

  • Has in-depth, demonstrable EUC architecture experience, creating high
- and low-level designs - end-to-end (from user experience to technical deployment)
  • Has experience in at least one scripting language (e.g. JSON, Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, PHP)
  • Has experience in a DevOps or multidisciplinary environment managing work packages for teams
  • Has demonstrable technical implementation, maintenance and improvement experience across Device, Software, Hardware, Operating System and Group Policy management
  • Has demonstrable risk management experience
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
