Job Title:
Bench Hand Joiner


Location:
Glasgow


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of wood and the materials and tools needed to complete the project.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Shape and joint wood using hand and power tools, such as planes, chisels, saws, sanders, and routers.
  • Assemble and glue wood pieces to form structures and shapes, such as boxes, frames, and panels.
  • Fit and install wooden components, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, using hand and power tools.
  • Inspect and repair wooden structures, such as bridges, buildings, and sidewalks.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Bench Hand Joiner or equivalent role.
  • Experience with various types of wood, including hardwoods and softwoods.
  • Strong knowledge of joinery techniques and carpentry principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Must be able to pass a DBS check.
  • Must have a valid CSCS card.

Rate of pay:
£16.00 to £18.00 per hour
