Role outline:


  • Patient Transport Driver provides patient transport services, transporting nonemergency patients to and from hospital and clinic appointments. Must ensure patient welfare in transit and safety and best practice are always adhered to.
  • The role requires the ability to work with vulnerable people who may be experiencing pain and may be in distress in a caring and compassionate way.
  • Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, start times vary depending on where the first pick up is.
  • Hold a D1 (r101) licence entitlement to drive a minibus.
  • Have experience within a similar role
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Be physically fit as you are required to maneuverer and push wheelchair users
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Demonstrate a high level of service
  • Be willing to undergo suitable training
  • Be a team player
  • Flexible in working pattern to fit in with operational needs
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Geographical knowledge of the North West London area
  • Knowledge of patient transport services

Key Responsibilities:


  • Transporting patients (and carer) from home to medical appointment and home again. Provide light assistance where necessary to patients who may be ambulatory or wheelchair users.
  • Ensure patients board safely, are seated and use of appropriate passenger and wheelchair restraint equipment is correctly applied.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and ensure the routine daily checks of designated vehicles are carried out prior to deployment.
  • Liaise with and report to Harrow CT as directed within operational procedures in updating location and status and respond appropriately to instructions.
  • Provide support as directed to other agencies in the event of serious injury or emergency.
  • To be flexible on a daily basis to support all PTS hospitals/locations where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate transport records.
  • Comply with Harrow CT instructions, procedures, guidelines, protocols, policies and relevant systems and adhere to all statutory legislation.
  • Safeguard patients by escalating any concerns

  • Adhere to all relevant legislation
  • To be flexible in finish times
