A vacancy exists in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology for a Communications Co-ordinator to support the delivery of effective multi-channel communications and events for the department and contribute to key communications aims and objectives.

The post holder will be educated to degree level. They will have experience in using communications platforms, including social media tools and website content management systems.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to key communications aims and objectives and communications messages for the department for both internal and external audiences. Support the implementation of communications strategies in line with the objectives and messages of the department and University as a whole.
  • Oversee the execution of CEB's social media strategy and coordinate various social media accounts through competitive research, platform choice, messaging and audience identification.
  • Maintain a social media presence to help raise the profile of the department and its research. Contribute creatively to social media campaigns by taking and manipulating photos and taking and editing short videos.
  • Measure results, producing regular reports on reach and engagement. Closely monitor activity on CEB accounts and provide meaningful insights.
  • Support in managing the content for the department's website and intranet. Ensure content is up to date, work with the line manager to deliver site improvements and innovations. Advise stakeholders on any changes on webpage design to ensure userfriendliness and consistency with guidelines. Work with others to prepare short articles, edit as appropriate for the target audiences.
  • Provide editorial support and contribute ideas for content development. Write, together with others in the department, fresh, relevant and regular content for the website and intranet and ensure content is accurate and appropriate for their audiences. Liaise with University Communications office on branding.
  • Build good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the University. Help academic staff to be involved in events and communications work. Ensure communications activities are coordinated and shared with all relevant stakeholders; attend relevant meetings to keep abreast with developments.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
