Simply Education is seeking to appoint a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with a group of students who have become disconnected with their learning.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have resilience and be able to model and promote high behaviour expectations.

It is vital that you can communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.


The school we are working in partnership is a lovely purpose-built specialist provision, supporting students experiencing social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties.

The school is based in Crewe which has excellent transport links via public transport. Additionally, the staff have created a unique learning environment which is walm and welcoming. High expectations are in place for the student's behaviour and attitude towards learning, consequently, there is mínimal behavioural issue.


As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work collaboratively to support students to build their resilience, self-worth, and ability to manage and self-regulate their own feelings.

Consequently, their children become confident, contributing members of society who go on to become successful adults, leading happy lives. The students and staff work collaboratively to create an appealing learning space and reflection area.

One of the school's regulation stations is themed as the north pole and creates a safe space in the form of an igloo where the students can have the time and space they need.


The ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant for this role will have experience working in education, be comfortable contributing to the school and classroom values and ethos and be committed to supporting students with social emotional and mental health needs.

You will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable and flexible, and have a passion for helping young people to achieve their full potential.

  • Work with the students' Teacher to deliver highquality bespoke learning opportunities.
  • Support the students to become reengaged with their learning.
  • Model and promote high behaviour expectations.
  • Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.
  • Work closely with the students' Tutor to Prepare the students for life beyond school.

Key Requirements:

  • An understanding of working with disengaged students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of vocational education.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behaviour expectations.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Driving license and access to own transport is desirable.
