JOB BRIEF
A well established Utility Groundworks Contractor are in search for a Utility Supervisor/PM


Location:
Canterbury, Kent


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with current legislation, codes of practice, company procedures, project HSEQ Plans and activity Method Statements.
  • Ensure you are familiar with the HSEQ management systems that relate to your work activities.
  • Ensure you complete any training provided that enables you to carry out your HSEQ responsibilities.
  • Organise work sites so that work is carried out to the required standard with minimum risk to employees, subcontractors, the general public and the surrounding environment.
  • Ensure that no employee commences work on their site without first receiving an induction and has all the relevant information and drawings (such as utility plans).
  • Ensure that employees and subcontractors who are engaged in high risk or significant impact activities are working in accordance with agreed mitigation measures, risk assessment and safe method of work. Ensure that legislative requirements, approved codes of practice and DNO specifications and other guidance documents, such as HSG47 and GS6, are followed whilst undertaking works.
  • Ensure that visitors and operatives under your control are aware of the site rules and of their HSEQ responsibilities.
  • Implement arrangements with subcontractors, third parties etc. on site to avoid confusion about areas of responsibility for health, safety, welfare and environment.
  • Ensure Plant & Equipment brought on to site is fit for purpose and that it is only operated by competent persons.
  • Ensure that any substances used on site that are likely to be Hazardous to Health or the Environment are assessed, and details of any protective measures are provided to the user and others likely to be harmed.
  • Ensure that adequate emergency arrangements are in place on site and that all persons on site are aware of what actions to take.
  • Ensure that all incidents / accidents are reported to their Project/Contract Manager as soon as practically possible after the event and where necessary, ensure the incident site is maintained to facilitate investigation.
  • Report immediately any defects noted with plant or equipment.
  • Accompany enforcement officers on site visits and for acting on their recommendations. In the case of the inspector issuing a notice, contact the Contract Manager immediately after complying with any requirements to stop work.
  • Cooperate with the HSQE Advisor.
  • Ensure regular HSEQ inspections of the work area are conducted.
  • Ensure that all Nonconformities/Corrective Actions raised within HSEQ Inspections and Audits are attended to within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure that all new employees, particularly apprentices and young people, are shown the correct method of working and associated safety precautions.
  • Ensure that any employee under 18 does not drive any item of plant or operate any tool or equipment unless under direct supervision.
  • Prevent horseplay or dangerous practical jokes and reprimand those individuals who continually fail to consider their own safety or that of others.
  • Ensure that adequate and suitable supplies of protective clothing and equipment are maintained on site.
  • Set a personal example by wearing the appropriate PPE whilst on site and be seen to take positive corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
  • Ensure that detailed and accurate project planning is completed giving fair not to all stakeholders internally and externally to EBR Ltd.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of all assigned projects with a focus of HSEQ and financial efficiency to ensure margin is maintained or exceeded.
  • Ensure that Service m8 and or other company systems are updated regularly and with accurate information.
  • Always represent EBR in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensure polite, professional conduct when engaging with client, colleagues, or 3rd parties.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Utilities and or Civil experience is essential.


This role is suited to a driven Assistant PM or Supervisor who wants to develop with a company with plenty of growth and ambition.


Salary:
Up to £50,000.00 per year
