Job Description - Finance Officer

Salary:
£24,772 per annum, pro rata


Hours: 16 hours per week


Holidays:25 days + bank holidays per annum, pro rata

Job purpose
To work as part of the Finance Team, providing comprehensive day to day finance support for TSL Kirklees.


Main duties and responsibilities

Finance Support:


  • Monitoring income and expenditure in line with financial procedures and policies
  • Monitoring monthly breakdown of salaries to relevant funding streams in line with budget
  • Adding new funding streams to Quickbooks, setting up recurring journals and budget
  • Produce supporting schedules for the quarterly management accounts for TSL Board.
  • Oversee payment of bills in line with financial procedures
  • Data entry onto Quickbooks of income and oversee data entry of expenditure.
  • Support the Finance Manager to prepare budgets, cashflows and end of year accounts.
  • Support the Projects Managers to maintain project financial accounts, raising any concerns regarding underspend/overspend on projects.
  • Producing financial information for funding claims.
  • Raise invoices.
  • Inform Finance Administrator of approved changes to salary payments, checking for errors when received back and put salary payments onto the online banking system.
  • Handle debtors by actively chasing prompt payment.
  • Provide information and support to auditor for end of year accounts.

Other:


  • Deputise for other members of the Finance Team as and when appropriate.
  • Undertake any further tasks required to further the aims and objectives of TSL Kirklees.
  • Work in a way that supports both TSL Kirklees values and the spirit and content of the TSL Kirklees strategic plan including all supporting documents/policies.

Person Specification

Qualifications
Relevant accounting or book-keeping qualifications or equivalent work experience


Essential Criteria

Experience
Previous work experience in a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role

  • Experience of using QuickBooks or other similar online accounting software
  • Experience of successfully supporting the administration and finances of an organisation
  • Experience of supporting financial administration for various projects.

Skills

  • Excellent numerical and written communication skills, with a good eye for detail, and the ability to spot errors.
