Job Summary:
GKN Aerospace is looking for a University Research Integrator (FTC) to join its Horizon 3 team, which is responsible for exploring radical new and technologies such as hydrogen propulsion, digitalisation and advanced air mobility.
Responsibilities:
- Develop GKN understanding of graphene, 2D materials and other advanced materials and their scalability in the aerospace industry
- Enable the transfer of knowledge into the GKN team to support the integration new technology into future aerospace products
- Manage relevant University technical engagements including MSc, group design projects, PhDs and research roadmaps
- Engage with the GEIC, the wider University of Manchester and other academic institutes
- Develop and deliver training material to the GKN team
- Enhance connections between GKN specialists and university academics
- Disseminate specific GKN requirements for new research projects/experiments
- Steer university infrastructure investment aligned with GKN goals
- Coordination of technology workshops and reviews between University and GKN colleagues
How You'll Contribute:
To help us make a difference, you'll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- Substantial experience with 2D materials and coatings
- Experience in collaborating with multiple disciplinary teams
- Ability to work effectively with other research and academic staff in order to fulfil the requirements of the post.
- Ability to develop/deliver training material on specified topics
Desirable:
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related discipline.
- Experience with nanomaterials including graphene, advanced carbons and 2D materials.
- Proven R&D experience within industrial or scientific settings
