The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Northampton.
As a full-time member of staff, you will work closely with class teachers to support the learning and attainment of all pupils, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
- Collaborate with class teachers to implement effective teaching and learning strategies, tailored to the individual needs of pupils, including those with SEND.
- Promote pupils' independence, selfesteem, and social inclusion within the school community.
- Provide support to pupils, both individually and in groups, to ensure they can access the curriculum, participate in learning activities, and experience a sense of achievement.
- Utilize a range of techniques and resources to engage pupils and enhance their learning experiences.
- Assist in maintaining a stimulating and safe learning environment, including the organization and management of teaching spaces and resources.
- Employ effective behaviour management strategies consistently, in accordance with the school's policies and procedures, to ensure a positive and conducive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil performance and provide feedback to the class teacher to inform instructional planning and support interventions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers with maintaining discipline and order among pupils, particularly during times when the teacher may be temporarily unavailable.
- Facilitate the inclusion of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities, ensuring equal opportunities for participation.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as assigned by the class teacher or school leadership team.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within a special educational needs setting, is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting the educational and holistic development of children, particularly those with SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, whilst also demonstrating initiative and autonomy when required.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of pupils and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Salary:
£80.00-£85.00 per day
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

- Special education: 1 year (preferred)
