OVERVIEW


This is a role established to support the management team and partners to ensure that the practice provides excellent clinical care to all patients and maximises achievements in all local and national contracts.

This is a Part-time or Full-time temporary role working daily Monday to Friday between the hours 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Lower Clapton Group Practice is looking to employ a temporary Administrative Assistant.

The reason for the temporary nature of this role is to cover the maternity leave absence of a permanent employee.

We employ circa 60 staff and provide personalised care to over 15,000 patients.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly verbal skills are essential in this role.

This role will be based at the Lower Clapton Group Practice. The Practice is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm. The successful applicant will be a member of the Administration and Reception team completing patient related administrative tasks. Experience of working in general practice is an advantage. Knowledge of
EMIS Web computer system is essentially required.

The post-holder will work closely with, and under the direction of the management to improve standards across a range of clinical and administrative activity.

The position is suitable for someone who wishes to demonstrate initiative and to develop their own skills further with a view to progression.


This role would ideally suit someone who enjoys being able to manage their own workload, whilst also functioning well as part of a wider team.

A willingness to learn new skills and improve on existing ones will be essential in this role


Qualifications and Skills
Good IT skills are essential to this role as are good written skills, accuracy & attention to detail

Knowledge of
EMIS Web computer system essential.

Previous experience within a healthcare setting desirable

Experience of working in a general practice is desirable.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Plan, implement, review and adapt recall strategies for all clinical contracts and targets with support from management and the lead partners and attend regular meetings.
  • Administrate the recalls process to ensure that patients with long term conditions are monitored and called in for review in line with Practice policy.
  • Make appointments with patients, explain appointment processes, notify patients of results of tests/investigations (if normal) and ensure they receive any appropriate information prior to their appointment.
  • Enter all correspondence on to the Practice clinical system using accurate read codes where appropriate and log all invites.
  • Run clinical searches to identify patients requiring review or followup.
  • Maximise outcomes in relation to all local (CCG, confederation, public health and other), national contracts and QOF and KPIs.
  • Action GP Links and assist with deductions as and when required.
  • Coding Diabetes Eye Screening results by using the relevant clinical system template as appropriate in a timely manner (training will be provided).
  • Action Prior Notification List via Open Exeter Portal on a weekly basis (training provided).
  • Carry out regular local monthly reporting (e.g. monitoring of patient notes, Smoking cessation etc).
  • Ensure maximal outcomes in terms of smears, immunisations and catch up campaigns.
  • Support the practice with improving performance in other national and local measures such as the primary care quality dashboard and the higher level quality indicators amongst others.
  • Provide the practice support with regard to all aspects of the clinical system (currently EMISweb).
  • Provide support regarding other IT systems such as Excel and Word.
  • Liaise with other staff to support the recall process.
  • Liaise with other staff to ensure that new technologies and systems are implemented particularly to support maximisation of outcomes.
  • Support clinical audit to improve practice development, work with the management team to coordinate external and internal audits.
  • Will have sufficient knowledge of computers software support programs including Excel, Word and others to support them in their role to optimize and maximum the practice performance.
  • To be responsible for the promotion, monitoring and documentation of performance and quality standards within the practice, using IT and manual solutions under the direction of the management team.
