    Service Engineer - Scientific Instrumentation

    This is a full-time role for a Service Engineer - Scientific Instrumentation at Ionoptika Ltd working on-site and up to 50% at customer locations in the UK and overseas.

    Job Role

    The following activities will typically be part of this position:

    • Site visits in the UK or worldwide
    • Duration of visits are usually up to 7 days, but may be several weeks occasionally
    • Temporary placement in the Test department during training and when not on customer site for familiarization with ion beam system testing and optimization
    • Liaise with customers, providing advice and resolving issues
    • Liaise with the Test/Engineering team for secondary support
    • Liaise with sales to gather customer requirements, concerns, and potential sales opportunities
    • Creating documentation related to service activities
    • Developing and presenting customer training sessions
    • Maintaining and updating technical knowledge and skills by attending internal and external courses, reading manuals, and accessing new applications

    Requirements

    • Degree or HND/HNC in a technical subject, preferably Electronics or Science, or a technical apprenticeship in an engineering company
    • 3-5 years of experience in a heavily customer-focused position requiring technical knowledge of products and services, with proven experience supporting electronic/software systems
    • Preference given to experience with vacuum systems and scientific instrumentation, particularly those related to vacuum technology
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • A motivated self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Fault finding and resolution skills for electronic/software systems
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
    • Possession of a valid passport, ability, and willingness to travel worldwide as required, potentially at short notice
    • Effective time-management skills and the ability to establish realistic and attainable deadlines for resolution
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently
    • Valid driver's license and good driving record
