An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Safeguarding Adviser Safeguarding Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


The post holder will support the Head of Safeguarding to ensure delivery of and monitoring of a Safeguarding Service in line with the Trust's statutory role, responsibilities and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults and their families, who access its services or visit the Trust's sites.


To act as a focus of expertise to support managers and staff in the delivery of high quality safeguarding practice throughout the service users care journey paying particular regard to practice in admission, assessment, care planning, discharge and community care to ensure that it includes the recognition and management of abuse through appropriate referral to statutory and non-statutory agencies.


To support the development and implementation of Safeguarding policies and procedures as delegated by the Head of Safeguarding or Operational Lead, working together with key safeguarding professionals to improve outcomes for vulnerable service users.


Contribute to data collection and analysis to support audit activity and quality assurance processes in relation to the Trust, ICB, CQC and Sheffield Adult Safeguarding Partnership performance frameworks, ensuring the Trust meets the requirements according to the CQC Key Lines of Enquiry.


To support the successful implementation of Safeguarding training and Safeguarding practice development across all Trust sites in support of Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures.


The post holder will establish key working relationships across STHFT, allied health organisations, other agencies/services in primary and secondary care, the local authority, voluntary and independent sectors to work in partnership to ensure the safety of adults at risk.

To support the Trust's responsibilities in relation to the work of the Sheffield Adult and Children Safeguarding Partnership.


To contribute to the investigation and reporting of safeguarding incidents, complaints or serious untoward incidents related to the care of an adult or child at risk.


To contribute to the writing of internal management reviews required for the Safeguarding Adults Review, Safeguarding Children Practice Review and Domestic Homicide Review statutory process.


To work with a degree of autonomy across the five units within the Trust providing advice and guidance and supporting staff to make referrals to other agencies when appropriate to ensure the safety of adults at risk.

To provide safeguarding advice and guidance, identifying emerging themes to inform future training.


Contribute as required to individual case discussions and where necessary, escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with local and national protocols and procedures.
