Job Description:


This role is supporting the first line of defense for Experian, leading a team that will define, develop and continually evolve risk and control management practices in support of a number of Experian Business Units : Go To Market, Experian Marketing Services (EMS) & Data Labs to world class standards.

The team adopts a risk mindset that enshrines the team's way of working across GTM and other business areas.


This role is key to ensure that risk and control requirements are an integral aspect of the operational business to assure the identification, management and mitigation of current and potential regulatory and compliance, conduct, operational, business, market and ethical/moral risks, issues and loss events.


Work that matters - What you'll be doing

  • Proactive improvement and development of accurate risk registers and effective control environments using frameworks that are integrated, compliant and consistent with all areas of the UK business. Governance through chairmanship of scheduled Business Area Risk Management Meetings structured in accordance with the agreed meeting Terms of Reference. Leadership of initiatives to reduce risk using resource from across the Experian organisation.
  • Compliance monitoring with appropriate company Policies, Standards and Procedures. Lead remediation activity when noncompliance is identified. Leadership of Business Area engagement with Internal Audits and Compliance Assurance Reviews.
  • Influencing global and regional policy to be more representative and effective in helping the business area manage it's risks.
  • Effective communication of policy, standards or changes to sales team and clients to ensure ongoing commercial success.
  • Skills and career development of the existing 1st line risk team to support growth and performance acceleration.

What you'll need to bring to the role & Experian

  • Ability and desire to build organisational structure, governance, control and insight to drive operational stability whilst effectively balancing the needs of Experian, its clients and their customers/consumers.
  • Expertise in managing senior stakeholder expectations whilst driving change and operating with a commercial focus by leveraging quantitative and qualitative skills.
  • Ability to use team structure and supporting resource to deliver results working to meet or exceed expectations by keeping yourself and others focused on achieving critical goals.
  • Analyse issues, problems, and queries effectively to make quality decisions and commit to a course of action after identifying and assessing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, resources, constraints, and organizational values.

More about you

  • A degree in risk management, finance, economics, business management, and/or other related fields is usually required and/or a recognised qualification in risk management (eg. Institute of Risk Management).
  • You will be an independent thinker with a strong ability to build rapport and influence.
  • Highly visible leadership evangelising an understanding of regulatory requirements and obligations.
  • Process driven with good attention to detail and strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Demonstrate resilience and reacts positively to changes to maintain focus and flexibility when encountering difficulties or obstacles.
  • Experience in second line of defense risk roles and sales/GTM experience is a distinct advantage.
