Description

As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of maternity clients individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered midwife.

The post holder will practice in accordance with trust standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies

The remits of this post include but not limited to:
Perform the following clinical duties informing the midwife of the results and recording these appropriately:

  • Taking temperature, pulse and blood pressure
  • Maintaining fluid balance charts
  • Taking blood if trained or undertaking training and assessment to acquire these skills
  • Responding to call bells
  • Obtaining and testing midstream urine sample
  • To assist staff in maintaining clients wellbeing and dignity in a safe environment.
  • To assist staff in maintaining client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Preparing treatment areas and equipment as requested including maintenance of stock levels.
  • Assisting with infant feeding
  • Assisting the scrub nurse / midwife in the operating theatre after appropriate training.
  • Safe cleaning, storage and / or disposal of equipment according to the Health and Safety at Work act.
