An excellent opportunity to join the highly regarded Private Client team of our based law firm client as Tax Director


Reporting to Partner/Head of, this is a fully-fledged advisory role with the primary purpose of providing tax advice to Private, Business and Trust Clients of the firm on complex tax planning/advisory work and where appropriate advising clients on tax mitigation and saving opportunities that are suitable for them.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Advising on tax aspects of succession and estate planning for individuals, their businesses and families;
  • Advising on international elements of tax, in particular nonresident CGT, offshore Trust and FDR issues;
  • Providing IHT, CGT, LBTT and Income tax advice revolving around tax advice for Private Clients, Partnerships, Companies and Trusts and where necessary basic VAT advice;
  • Advising on tax aspects of land transactions and heritable property
  • Supporting the other teams in the firm in the provision of transactional advice for their clients.
  • Provide technical private client, executry, tax and trust advice with minimum supervision including supporting the development of the firm's reputation as a leader in this field
  • Play a part in business development projects and client relationship roles as required
  • Maintain and develop your tax knowledge;
  • Provide technical tax support to staff and other members of the firm together with
- training as necessary and requested;

  • Cross selling the services of the Advisory and Tax Returns Team to other Teams and
  • Clients
  • Management of a team of one


You will be a qualified Tax Advisor (or equivalent), with relevant Private Client Tax advisory experience gained in a professional services firm - legal or accounting practice.

You will possess excellent technical tax skills, along with the confidence and ability to advise on tax planning, ideally relating to personal, succession, trust and executry.

Training will however be provided should you not have had prior exposure to specialisms including trusts, property taxes and VAT.

The role requires a large degree of client engagement, hence excellent client relationship skills are imperative.

You will be service-minded and can confidently demonstrate the ability to communicate complex tax concepts and advice in understandable language to clients.

You should be a proactive self-starter with a hunger to develop in the role.

You should also possess excellent business acumen, with an ability to initiate and follow up on new business leads to aid business development.
