Training The majority of training will be on-the-job with close involvement of the consultants.

The department has a weekly lunchtime teaching session and there will be opportunity to develop as an educator through support and training of junior colleagues.

The Directorate of Medicine has Internal Medicine Core Training on Wednesday afternoon with an extensive program of specialty interests and topics across the whole range of general medicine; Junior Doctors are encouraged and supported to take part in clinical case presentations.

In addition we offer dedicated patient safety lectures and practical training on procedures such as ultrasound guided CVP insertion.

We have a state-of-the-art Simulation department who provide sessions both to doctors in training and those in Clinical Fellowships. The full programme provides junior doctors with a comprehensive training package.

In summary This post will give excellent opportunities, To develop both your generic and clinical skills in Medicine To further your career aspirations within the NHS To assist in providing acute care services to the Trust.

To provide input into medical student education for Oxford and Leicester undergraduates on the diagnosis and management of medical emergencies To undertake Quality Improvement projects of value to patients and other health care professionals To contribute to a large and dynamic team of junior doctors within the Medical directorate To develop your career in Acute Medicine To develop protocols within the acute medicine department and the interface with A&E for consistent safe and good quality care for acute admissions To ensure good practice by regular audit and review of incidents with clinical team and take forward lessons learnt To link in with the directorate clinical governance meetings and contribute to lessons learnt from incidents and complaints.


Study Leave Whenever possible, all trainees will be encouraged to take study leave in order to pursue their career goals.

ALS courses are run locally.

Annual Leave The annual leave entitlement for 12 months is 27 days plus days in lieu for working public holidays.
