Project Overview:


For more than 70 years, Atomic Weapons Enterprise (AWE) has supported the UK Government's nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous at Sea Deterrent.

They use nuclear know-how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that help the UK's counterterrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities.

The Role:

The Project Controls Engineer will assist with project controls activities such as cost management, estimating, forecasting, and reporting.

Working as an integral member of the Project Controls team, they will perform data analysis, assist with identification of problems, and make recommendations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that make a meaningful contribution to the management of project execution.


Typical Responsibilities:


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the production of Monthly Dashboard Report for the Client.
  • Gathering actual job hours, conduct cost recording, reporting, and analysis to help preparation of the Application for Payment, and other regular forecasting.
  • Assisting with contract/subcontract management and payments.
  • Supporting Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) / Key Performance Indicators.
  • Assisting the Project Estimator by working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Project Controls to arrange required data needed to produce capital cost estimates.
  • Help of the assembly and compiling of estimate data and preparing designated portions of the capital cost estimates.
  • Interfacing with other members of the project team and provide miscellaneous help to the Project Estimator and Project Controls Manager as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in any discipline within Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or Business Management from an accredited college or University within twelve (12) months of graduation date.
  • Numerically literate with MS Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint expertise to an intermediate level.
  • Basic understanding of technical processes, interpretation of engineering drawings, and project management practices associated with engineering and construction projects.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrate a responsible attitude towards safety and security.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and solving problem.
  • Knowledge of NEC4 Contract administration, preferred.
  • Knowledge of current industry and technical developments, preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of the nuclear industry, preferred.
