The post holder will be based exclusively on the Neonatal Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

This is a large Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 9 Intensive Care cots, 9 High Dependency cots and 19 Special Care cots providing the full spectrum of medical neonatal care including High Frequency Oscillation, inhaled Nitric Oxide and Therapeutic Hypothermia.

The new state of the art Unit is located in the purpose-built Women and Children's Building. The Unit is led by a dedicated team of experienced Consultant Neonatologists.

The post-holder will work as part of a full shift tier two registrar rota, exclusively within the Neonatal Unit.


Neonatal Cardiology and Haemodynamics training:


The unit has an excellent level of expertise in echocardiography with few of the consultants having undergone echocardiography training including EACVI certification.

We have been running a successful in

  • Attendance on dedicated lecture sessions on Neohaemodynamics
  • Regular handson echo training on the neonatal unit
  • Review of echocardiograms performed by the post holder
  • Maintenance of a logbook for ECHO training and regular assessments.


The post holder will be based exclusively on the Neonatal Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital (there are no General Paediatric responsibilities).
