We are looking for a highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to join the Hertfordshire & West Essex Integrated Care Board contract team and contribute to the delivery of the ICBs strategic objectives.


The Head of Contracts role is critical to support the development of the contracting roadmap across the ICB and local Health and Care Partnerships.

The role will play a crucial part to establish effective and productive relationships with healthcare providers, stakeholders and system partners.


The role will be responsible for the contract management of a portfolio of healthcare and non-healthcare (commercial) contracts and ensure that the contracts are managed effectively and efficiently.

Some of the healthcare contracts are aligned to 1 of the 3 local Healthcare Partnerships and some crosscut the ICB geography.


We are looking for someone to join the team on a 11 month fixed term contract/secondment who is able to start in role as soon as possible.


The post holder is expected to demonstrate effective leadership, strong provider / supplier contract management skills, contract technical expertise, commercial contracts aptitude, good financial acumen and knowledge of Public Procurement Regulations.

The ability to matrix work with other directorates and teams is essential.


The post holder is also required to a good understanding of the NHS healthcare landscape and have relevant experience and knowledge of NHS contracts as well as a proven track record of relationship management and contract negotiation.


NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the local NHS organisation that plans and oversees how NHS money is spent and makes sure health services work well and are of high quality.


The ICB's role is to join up health and care services, improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities for the 1.5 million people who live in Hertfordshire and West Essex.
