We have a great opportunity for a Buyer to join our Commercial Maintenance team.

As a Buyer, it will be your role to support the successful delivery of UU's business needs by providing a professional commercial service, encompassing one or more of the core areas of procurement and contract management.

The service is to be undertaken in accordance with high professional standards and business principles in compliance with regulatory and company procedures and policies.


Main responsibilities include supporting the development of category plans and sourcing strategies for categories of spend across functional and organisation boundaries ensuring optimum value for money for UU, engaging with stakeholders to support the alignment of business strategy and policy to support the delivery of category plans, ensuring contractual compliance and proactively manage supplier performance across a specific portfolio of Contracts / Agreements, providing procurement, project and administration support to enable high performance procurement and supporting the management of supplier contracts / agreements and service level agreements to ensure reduced risk to UU.


Job Accountabilities:

  • Provide support and timely escalation to the Category Manager
  • Provide commercial expertise and guidance to stakeholders
  • Proactively support the management and mitigation of commercial risks
  • Work collaboratively with internal stake holder teams to ensure the timely delivery of compliant value driven procurements
  • Produce and maintain quality category data/dashboards

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Qualified to (or working towards) CIPS Level
  • Diploma in Procurement and Supply
  • Knowledge of key category management processes, tools and methodologies used across the whole procurement lifecycle
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of working collaboratively with the business to support commercial proposals
  • Commercial negotiation and resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of Regulated procurement and contract law.
