Position summary:

Reporting to the site GT Manager within the GT Department, the GT Specialist is responsible for a variety of activities relating to import and export compliance and for providing cover in the absence of the GT Manager


Key responsibilities are:

  • Supporting compliance with all applicable import and export control laws, regulations, and Collins Aerospace policy requirements.
  • Managing transactions in SAP/GTS, releasing blocked orders, undertaking licence and end user checks.
  • Review and approval of technology transfer requests, providing guidance on technology marking and transmission methods.
  • Providing guidance on facility access control, visitor management, and foreign person employment requirements; conducting substantive screening checks.
  • Review and approval of travel requests and requests to export miscellaneous goods.
  • Providing support to the site Customs Specialist on import processes, such as the issuance of clearance instructions to import agents, the maintenance of the Import Master Log, and filing of inwards processing returns to HMRC.
  • Ensuring that accurate, auditable records of GT transactions are maintained and that all reporting requirements are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Liaison with internal departments and external bodies on GT matters.
  • Hosting external audits and undertaking internal audits.
  • Providing training to functional areas of the business.
  • Attending external training as required.
  • Identification, investigation, and disclosure of potential violations (as required); leading root cause analysis and ensuring that identified corrective actions are implemented.
  • Developing and maintaining standard work tools and procedures.
  • Deputising in the absence of the GT Manager.
  • Compliance with company EH&S requirements.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time by the GT Manager

Minimum Requirements:

Strong verbal and written communication skills


Strong IT skills (eg:
SAP, MS Office). Previous Global Trade Compliance experience and good working knowledge of UK and US regulations is essential. Experience within the Aerospace and Defence sectors desirable.
