Simply Education are working with a number of SEND schools in the Lincoln area who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join the team from September and beyond.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students with a range of SEND specialisms; including but not limited to: Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder / Condition (ASD / ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

The shared aim is to create a positive, nurturing environment where each student can achieve their full potential.

You will play a vital role in supporting students in all aspects of school life.

Most of the work will be 1:1 however you may be expected to work with a small group of students.

Class sizes are usually no larger than 9 students.

We have a range of FREE CPD courses that can support your transition in to SEND work. Including an Introduction to Special Schools and Supporting Children with Autism / ADHD.

Full-time and Part-time opportunities available.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs.
Implement individualised behaviour plans and strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Build positive relationships with students, providing guidance, encouragement, and a safe and supportive environment.
Support students in accessing the curriculum, adapting teaching materials as necessary.
Foster social skills development, conflict resolution, and selfregulation techniques.
Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher.
Contribute to the overall positive ethos and wellbeing of the school community.

Requirements:

Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting vulnerable adults or children.
A strong understanding of SEND and its impact on learning and behaviour.
Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the varying needs of students.
