An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Core Skills Trainer

  • AVERTS to join the Established AVERTS team. The post holder will receive an inhouse train the trainer induction programme and will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of the Trusts reduction of restrictive practice training syllabus
  • AVERTS (Approaches to Violence Through Effective Recognition and Training for Staff). This post is physically demanding as the post holder is required to deliver all aspects of the AVERTS training syllabus that involves moving towards and away from the floor and spending time in a kneeling position, the postholder will also be involved in reviewing the training syllabus in line with the Restraint Reduction Networks accreditation standards. There will also be admin tasks commensurate with the role. The post holder may also be required to assist in the delivery of other aspects of fundamental training, where full training will be given. The postholder should be a registered clinician and have an interest in the delivery of quality training and education packages and in particular, the reduction of restrictive practices. The training will be delivered inhouse within a large mental health organisation that has a diverse service user population and provides specialist services to the communities of Birmingham and Solihull and the wider Midlands conurbation.
The role involves teaching all elements of the AVERTS programme as part of the Trust's fundamental training requirements. This is a physical skills training syllabus alongside theoretical sessions around the reduction of restrictive practices.

The role will also include the on-going review and development of the training in line with the Restraint Reduction Networks accreditation standards and to ensure that all training is delivered in accordance with UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Scheme) guidelines.

This role gives the opportunity for hybrid working and you will typically be asked to work in a hybrid way, working from your home and also from Trust HQ The Uffculme Centre, or any other agreed site.
