Alliance Associate HBS Digitalisation, Biosamples

Locations:
Melbourn, Cambridge (UK), Gothenburg (Sweden), Warsaw (Poland) and Mississauga (Canada)


The Alliance Associate HBS Digitalisation is accountable for ensuring that business processes and standards are established and maintained to ensure the efficient and compliant deployment and use of a new sample tracking system for HBS used by our scientists for secondary use.

They implement the strategy and defining the process for sample tracking to meet ICH-GCP requirements. They identify risks associated with system deployment or upgrades and mitigate accordingly.

Working with the Alliance and Technology team and wider Biosample team members, they establish positive relationships and communication channels with internal and external customer groups including Translational Science, IT and the identified system vendor.


Typical Accountabilities

  • Understands the business requirements for sample tracking and maintains delivery of an effective and compliant system
  • Leading sample tracking rollout, identifying, mitigating and handling risks associated with the deployment
  • Handles business expectations of the system capabilities and future options for development
  • Supervises delivery of sample tracking services at a workstream level.
  • Point of escalation for issues with the service provider and leads mitigation of issues.
  • Maintain oversight of the system provider. Due diligence, sponsor oversight in conjunction with the Alliance Lead HBS Digitalisation
  • Work with Procurement to ensure data feeds are available in contracts with new providers
  • Accountable for maintaining awareness of system performance, service changes and future development to the HBS transformation team and internal AZ collaborators
  • Ensures customer engagement and training to bring the system to use in BAU
  • Training development in conjunction with Biosample team members
  • Process development and maintenance for system in conjunction with Biosample and wider AZ collaborators
  • Maintains awareness of the industry trends and developments in sample tracking
  • Works with scientific teams to pilot newer developments and features in the system
  • Strategically looks for opportunities to integrate, use, add and transform the data to optimise ways of working within BioSamples or in the wider organisation whilst ensuring compliance with data standards

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Higher Degree (or relevant equivalent qualification) in relevant area including experience in a CRO laboratory pharmaceuticals, a healthcare related industry or academia/hospital environment related to HBS
  • Validated experience in supplying to operational deployment of clinical laboratory testing
  • Experience in oversight of external partners, especially clinical laboratory service providers
  • Management of sophisticated projects
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills
  • High ethical standards, willingness to challenge inappropriate proposals/actions
  • Strong collaborative, partnering, and social skills
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Willingness to take decisions and find solutions
  • Proficient in English as the AstraZeneca working language

Desirable

  • Experience in more than one company or country in a related field
  • Credibility with regulators, academic partners, partners in crosscompany initiatives, CROs, Public Private Partnership consortia
  • Experience in laboratory LIMS deployment or technical knowledge of the data feeds required to make the system function
