DEKRA Organisational & Process Safety is currently looking to fill the position of Laboratory Manager to lead our experienced and committed team of Technician's & Chemists, within our Regulatory Laboratory.


This laboratory is one of four GLP compliant laboratories we have on the outskirts of Southampton, in the beautiful setting of Southampton Science Park.

The Regulatory Laboratory specialises in Physical Properties & Physical Hazards testing; primarily for safe transport, supply and handling purposes.


This includes a number of local and global regulations such as ADR, IATA, CLP, REACH & BPR to name a few.


As Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The management of our Regulatory Laboratory, leading, supporting & developing the team.
  • Partnering with a broad range of clients across many different sectors, ensuring the highest quality and service is delivered by you & the team, safely, consistently & in line with our ISO & GLP procedures.
  • Ensuring that the laboratory is always maintained in a safe condition and safety audits are conducted, reported and acted on promptly will be expected.
  • Liaising with customers and organise work schedules to ensure deadlines are met and support the team with testing where appropriate.
  • Generating financial reports, business plans and capital investment plans to support in the continued growth of the laboratory & business.
  • The financial performance of the laboratory ensuring revenues are maximized & targets achieved.

About You

  • Bachelor's Degree in science related field & > 2 years Laboratory/management experience or > 5 years laboratory/management experience
  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office; particularly Excel
  • Goal driven & solution focused
  • Strong team & customer focus
  • Excellent communicator
  • Great collaborator with team members, wider stakeholders and senior management
