The Role

We seek to appoint an outstanding Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance with specific expertise in management accounting.


You will be committed to the success and development of Newcastle University Business School and will be expected to assume an academic leadership role commensurate with a senior lectureship position in the School.


You must hold a relevant professional accounting qualification or a PhD in a management accounting related topic, and can demonstrate your ability to lead academics, manage and deliver outstanding teaching and management of programmes, contribute scholarly outputs and educational citizenship to the School.

Key Accountabilities
As a Senior Lecturer, provide academic leadership and management and contribute to the Business School Vision and Strategy
Commitment to high quality teaching and learning and student support

Provide high quality research-led teaching of modules within the Business School in management accounting and other discipline based (Accounting and Finance) teaching within the Business School.

Coach and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor
Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with University standards and utilise on
- line and digitised curricula and education frameworks
Contribute to curriculum development
Demonstrate impact by developing practice-based solutions to real
- world problems and engage with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work
Contribute to the scholarly and practice profile of the Business School by engaging in scholarly research and activities, impact, practice, CPD and external funding
Contribute to the Business School's Triple Accreditation and Professional Body Accreditations
As a senior colleague, make a positive citizenship contribution to the School

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential and Desirable Criteria)

Proven experience of leading and delivering holistic, integrated programme-level design of learning, teaching and assessment strategies, to deliver learning opportunities that engage, challenge and inspire our students.

Skills in organisation and leadership necessary for undertaking a management and leadership role in the School (e.g. in teaching and learning, research, impact or external engagement).
Evidence of the effective use of disciplinary and proactive scholarship.
A sustained national/international scholarly profile reflective of a research-intensive Business School.
Evidence of/potential to develop and secure external funding for scholarly and practice activities.
A track record of engaging with external stakeholders, generating real-world impact from practice.
Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, ethics and sustainability.

Attributes and Behaviours
Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills with a clear ability to meet deadlines.
Proven ability to work within a team, underlined by strong intercultural communication skills.

The ability and willingness to develop innovative and effective teaching materials appealing to students from diverse backgrounds with an emphasis on curriculum internationalisation.

The ability to network and initiate collaborations with academic and external partners at a senior level.


Qualifications:

A professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) or a PHD in a management accounting related topic
HE Teaching qualification (or a willingness to study for one)
A profile with currency which meets external accreditation bodies criteria
